— The Art of Eight Limbs
What Is
Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is Thailand’s national combat sport one of the most effective striking systems ever developed. Unlike boxing, you fight with eight weapons: two fists, two elbows, two knees, two kicks.
At Fuel Fortress Nashville, we teach the full traditional system footwork, guard, combinations, clinch work, and sparring in a dedicated training space. Your membership also unlocks full MMA rooms at Bowling Green, Franklin, and Clarksville.
- Fists — jab, cross, hook, uppercut
- Elbows — horizontal, diagonal, spinning
- Knees — straight, diagonal, jumping
- Kicks — teep, roundhouse, body, leg
- Clinch — control, sweeps, off-balance
One class. Every level. Our coaches run structured rounds so white-collar beginners and seasoned fighters train side-by-side — each pushed at the right intensity, never left behind.
What to Expect
in Every Session.
Every class follows the same structured framework — adapted live by the coach for your level. Here’s how a standard session runs:
01 — Warm-Up (10 min)
Shadow boxing, dynamic stretching, footwork drills. We prime the body and reinforce movement patterns before anything lands. Beginners get extra coach attention here.
02 — Technique (20 min)
Coach breaks down the focus technique of the day — a strike, combination, or defensive concept. Demonstrated slowly, drilled by pairs. Beginners work fundamentals; advanced drill variations.
03 — Pad Work (15 min)
You hit, your partner holds. Then switch. This is where technique becomes power. Beginners work controlled combinations. Advanced students drill speed and timing.
04 — Sparring / Drills (15 min)
Light technical sparring for those ready. Beginners do non-contact flow drills or bag work — never forced into sparring before they're comfortable.
05 — Conditioning (10 min)
Muay Thai conditioning — burpees, plank, core, jump rope. Scales to every fitness level. You'll be pushed, not broken.
06 — Cool-Down (5 min)
Full-body stretch, breathing, and technique review. Coach gives individual feedback. Beginners always leave knowing exactly what to work on next.
— Starting From Zero
Your First
30 Days.
Here’s exactly what happens when you walk in with zero experience:
Week 1 — First Class
Tell the coach it’s your first time. They’ll pair you with a senior student, walk you through guard and basic footwork, and keep you on technique — no sparring, no pressure. You’ll leave knowing the jab, cross, and low kick.
Week 2 — Building the Foundation
You’ll start recognizing the class rhythm. Pad work gets introduced — basic 2–3 strike combinations. Your stance, guard, and movement will start feeling natural. The coach watches your form and corrects in real time.
Week 3 — Putting It Together
Combinations flow. You’ll drill the teep (push kick) and begin understanding defensive concepts like parrying and head movement. Your cardio will have already improved noticeably.
Week 4 — You're Not a Beginner Anymore
By the end of month one, you’re drilling 4–6 strike combos, understanding range, and holding pads with confidence. The coach will let you know when light technical sparring is something you should consider — no rush.

Fuel Fortress is and will be known as a special gym in the Nashville area. As someone who has been to pretty much every gym in Nashville, I can confidently say there’s a lot that goes into making a gym truly special. Some standout qualities I look for are as follows: very fluent and intentional equipment selection, an amazing gym community where everyone is there to better themselves and those around them, cleanliness and aesthetic, and a very helpful and hospitable staff/owners. I’m not kidding when I say this gym has all of the above. A gym member should feel welcomed and proud to be a member at their gym, and that is exactly how I feel about Fuel Fortress. Common
Questions.
Still on the fence? Here’s what first-timers ask most.
Do I need experience to join?
None at all. The All Levels class is literally designed for this. Walk in with zero experience. The coach will guide you through every technique from scratch. You will not be thrown into sparring on day one.
Will I get hurt?
Muay Thai is a contact sport, but responsible training at your level is extremely safe. Beginners do non-contact technique and pad work. Sparring is introduced gradually and only when you feel ready.
Is it good for weight loss and fitness?
Exceptional. A 60-minute Muay Thai class burns 600–1,000 calories depending on intensity. It builds cardio, lean muscle, coordination, and mental toughness simultaneously.
Do I need to buy gear before my first class?
No. Show up in athletic clothes. We have loaner gloves and hand wraps for your first session. After a few classes, the coach will advise on what gear makes sense for your goals.
Is the class co-ed?
Yes — all classes are co-ed. Women are a growing and valued part of every session. Our coaches are trained to pair students appropriately and create a respectful training environment.
Where is Muay Thai available?
